2027: Sule distances self from Wike’s APC governors’ feud

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has distanced himself from the political disagreement between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors over the emerging Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Sule said he was relieved that his name was not among the APC governors Wike accused of working against the coalition.

The governor spoke during an interview with TVC, monitored in Abuja, where he reacted to the growing dispute surrounding the opposition alliance and its implications for the 2027 political contest.

Wike had on Monday identified Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun as APC governors allegedly opposed to the Rainbow Coalition.

Sule, however, said he was grateful that he was not among those named.

“Thank God I’m not on that list. I feel relieved that I’m not on Wike’s list of APC governors fighting the Rainbow Coalition,” he said.

The Nasarawa governor also noted that Wike, despite serving as a minister in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, is not a member of the APC.

He questioned the basis for criticism of Wike’s involvement with a political alliance outside the APC, noting that the minister has publicly expressed his intention to support Tinubu.

“Wike is one of the ministers in this administration, and if he says he wants to support President Tinubu from another party, remember he’s not an APC member,” Sule said.

He further suggested that the position of the Progressive Governors’ Forum on political alliances may have been misunderstood, adding that the purpose of an alliance should be considered in the context of broader political cooperation.
