Former Vice-President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has said that the crisis situation occasioned by the Boko Haram insurgency was a deliberate ploy by the Jonathan-led federal government to cause instability in the country for selfish political reasons.
The former VP alleged that the federal government has a direct hand in the prevailing dreaded Boko Haram insurgency in the North- East Nigeria in order to achieved political interest.
The former vice president, who was in anger spoke on the Hausa service of Voice of America, monitored in Jos, accused the government of the day of a deliberate action on the bedeviling siege.
In his words: “The Nigerian government has a hand in the lingering insurgency in the country and that is why they are not serious in fighting the insurgents. They only claim that peace would return to the area but is not true; they are not making any sincere effort”.
Atiku further alleged that government had no concern for the military and were not treated well, adding that the threats faced by the soldiers in the battle field were as a result of the refusal of the government to provide sophisticated weapons to counter the insurgents.
He noted that during their time in office, there was a similar sect that wanted to disturb the peace of the nation but tackled within a short period of time, adding that he had advised Jonathan severally to restore peace in the country.
