Traditional rulers across the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) have commended the Executive Chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, over a strategic partnership with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to boost electricity access across rural communities.

The royal commendation was delivered by His Royal Highness, Chief Joseph Danfulani Narai, the Sakaruyi of Karu, and His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ismaila Muhammed, during a delegation visit to Karu.

Under the initiative, AMAC is partnering with the REA alongside a Joint Venture Consortium comprising Transcorp Energy Limited, Transcorp Power Plc, and Husk Power Systems to expand clean, reliable, and affordable power across the Council’s four graded Chiefdoms.

It was gathered he intervention directly addresses long-standing power deficits in underserved and unserved rural areas by deploying sustainable, modern energy systems to power homes, small businesses, schools, and healthcare facilities.

Praising Maikalangu’s leadership, HRH Narai noted that boosting rural electrification will stimulate local trade, empower small businesses, and elevate public social services across the chiefdoms.

Similarly, HRH Muhammed lauded the AMAC boss for pursuing durable, long-term infrastructure solutions rather than short-term fixes.

Representing the Executive Chairman, Chief of Staff Hon. Emeka Orji and Principal Private Secretary Hon. David Dara pledged the Council’s complete institutional backing to guarantee the seamless execution of the rural power expansion.

“Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu remains committed to partnerships that bring meaningful development closer to the people, particularly in communities that have historically experienced infrastructure deficits,” the council representatives stated.

The partnership with the REA and its consortium partners is set to drive rural economic growth, generate job opportunities, and improve overall living standards across all four Chiefdoms.
