Again, Benue APC delegates escape death in Lafia road crash

Date:

Several members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue State have sustained injuries after a bus conveying them to a party rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, collided head-on with another vehicle on Saturday.

The accident occurred a few kilometres from the rally venue, with the number of injured delegates yet to be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.

The victims were reportedly taken to hospitals in Lafia for medical attention.

The state publicity secretary of the Austin Agada faction of the APC in Benue State, Dan-Morgan Ihomun, confirmed the incident, saying no lives were lost.

“The accident happened in Lafia and it involved two vehicles. But there was no loss of life. Those who sustained injuries have been rushed to the hospital,” Ihomun said.

The crash is the second reported accident involving APC delegates from Benue State travelling to Lafia for a party event in recent months.

On March 25, 2026, three delegates from Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State died in a road accident while about 10 others sustained injuries.

The victims were travelling from Makurdi to Lafia to attend the APC North-Central Zonal Congress when the bus conveying them crashed.

The latest incident has again raised concerns over the safety of party members travelling long distances to attend political gatherings.

However, details of the circumstances surrounding Saturday’s crash, including the identities of the injured delegates and the condition of those receiving treatment, were not immediately available.
