Kaduna State will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection in 2027 to sustain development projects being delivered through collaboration between the federal government and the state, the state governor, Uba Sani said on Friday.

The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. AbdulKadir Mu’azu Meyere, stated this during the inspection, groundbreaking, and commissioning of projects in Makarfi and Kudan Local Government Areas.

He said the projects were facilitated by Tinubu’s administration through collaboration between the federal government and Kaduna State, with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, playing a significant role.

He said the projects demonstrated the benefits of cooperation between the two levels of government and their commitment to improving residents’ lives.

The projects included the groundbreaking for male and female hostels at Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences and Technology in Makarfi; construction of the Makarfi bypass linking Anguwan Gari to Anguwan Hudu; and commissioning of a 20-bed primary health care center.

The team also laid foundation for a block of 10 classrooms, offices, toilets, and furniture at LGEA Primary School in Tashar Yari, Makarfi Local Government Area.

Sani urged residents to appreciate the development efforts by supporting leaders committed to delivering projects that address their needs.

In his remarks, Abbas said more than 80 projects would be executed across seven local government areas in Zone One, excluding Zaria, to address critical needs in education, health care, road infrastructure, and enterprise development.

He explained that the hostel project at Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences and Technology would provide safer accommodations and improve students’ learning environment, noting that the institution admitted more than 1,000 students during the 2024–2025 academic session alone.

He said the construction of 10 classrooms at Tashar Yari would reduce congestion and provide a more conducive learning environment for pupils and teachers.

Abbas stressed the importance of maintaining the newly commissioned 20-bed primary health care center to ensure that residents continue to receive essential medical services.

He said the Makarfi bypass would improve connectivity, reduce travel time and transportation costs, and facilitate the movement of agricultural produce to markets.

The Speaker commended the governor for promoting inclusive development through projects designed to ensure communities across Kaduna State benefit from government interventions.

He disclosed that the governor played a significant role in selecting and allocating projects to communities across the state.

He said the projects followed consultations with the governor and added that cooperation among federal, state, and local governments was essential for sustainable development.

He urged contractors to execute projects in accordance with specifications and within stipulated timelines, while calling on residents to monitor construction and protect completed facilities.

Meanwhile, Abbas and Meyere visited their alma mater, Government Secondary School, Makarfi, where they reflected on the institution’s contribution to their lives and pledged further support for its development.

Abbas said October 2026 marked 50 years since he enrolled at the school in October 1976, and he expressed appreciation to the principal, teachers, and other staff for their contributions to the institution’s reputation and educational development.

The Speaker urged students to embrace honesty, hard work, and transparency, saying these values could help them achieve success regardless of their backgrounds.

He recalled that some former students had faced difficult living conditions while attending the school but had achieved success through discipline and perseverance.

He encouraged the students to learn from successful alumni, adding that their achievements demonstrated that dedication and commitment could open opportunities for them.

He pledged continued support for the institution’s educational development and announced plans to provide solar streetlights for the school the following week. He added that renovations of important facilities would begin to improve the learning environment.

Meyere said the visit was emotional for the former students, particularly because of the school’s role in producing successful citizens. He urged students to take their studies seriously, remain disciplined, and work hard, using successful alumni as sources of inspiration.

The SSG commended Abbas for supporting the school through the planned renovation of key facilities and the donation of a bus. He prayed for the Speaker’s continued success and expressed hope that he would return as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Abbas urged the students to make the most of the opportunities available to them, assuring them of the alums’s willingness to contribute to their educational development.

He said the planned interventions were part of efforts to strengthen the institution and improve conditions for teaching and learning, and that sustained investment in education remained essential to developing future leaders and expanding opportunities for young people.
