Nigerian forward Gift Orban has hit the ground running in spectacular fashion since moving to Turkish Süper Lig side Amedspor, putting the club on the verge of activating a compulsory buy clause just nine matches into the campaign.
The 24-year-old striker found the net once again on Saturday, dispatching a 74th-minute penalty to spur Amedspor to a 2–1 victory away at Samsunspor. The strike brought his tally to 8 goals in 9 league appearances, placing him firmly at the top of the Süper Lig scoring charts.
Orban joined Amedspor on loan prior to the season, with the agreement including a crucial clause: if the striker reaches 10 league goals, a €3 million mandatory purchase option is automatically triggered to make his transfer permanent.
With 8 goals already banked before November, Orban needs just two more goals to activate the clause. At his current scoring rate of nearly a goal per game, Amedspor’s hierarchy will likely be finalizing that €3 million payout far sooner than originally anticipated.
Orban’s electrifying form has elevated Amedspor’s attack and reaffirmed his reputation as one of the most explosive young African finishers operating in European football.
