The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has cautioned its social media supporters against engaging in insults, personal attacks and abusive comments while promoting the party and its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party’s governorship candidate, Mustapha Sule Lamido, gave the warning during a meeting with social media users and political commentators, urging them to adopt issue-based engagement rather than attacking political opponents.
Lamido said the meeting was organized to sensitize young supporters on responsible political communication and the need to promote the party through constructive engagements.
He stressed that political campaigns should focus on policies, ideas and programmes capable of winning public confidence, rather than personal attacks and inflammatory remarks.
“We should focus on issue-based campaign, not personal attacks; let us promote peace and avoid anything that could violate electoral guidelines,” he said.
The PDP candidate further urged the supporters to ensure that their online activities promote peaceful political participation and do not undermine electoral regulations.
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to conducting peaceful and orderly campaign activities across Jigawa State, without violence or unnecessary provocation.
