From David Hassan, Gombe
Former Gombe State Commissioner for Finance, Mohammed Adamu Damji, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya formally received Damji into the ruling party at the Government House in Gombe.
Damji, who also previously served as Executive Chairman of the Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue and Managing Director of the Gombe State Investment and Property Development Company, was accompanied by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bayero Nafada.
Welcoming the financial expert and politician into the APC, Governor Yahaya assured him of an inclusive platform to deploy his administrative experience and political goodwill toward advancing the state’s development.
Yahaya expressed confidence that Damji’s defection would bolster the party’s structure while reiterating his administration’s commitment to progressive leadership and unified governance.
Speaking during the visit, Damji pledged to mobilize his political networks at the grassroots level in support of the APC and its candidates in the 2027 general elections, specifically highlighting his backing for the governorship candidate, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna.
Damji commended Governor Yahaya’s developmental strides in Gombe State, describing the administration’s performance as a demonstration of purposeful leadership, and declared his full commitment to securing victory for the APC across all levels in the upcoming polls.
