The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of non-teaching staff unions at Kaduna State University (KASU) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Kaduna State Government and university management over unresolved welfare demands and non-implementation of agreements.
The union umbrella—comprising the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT)—announced the resolution in a press release following a congress held Monday, November 2, 2026, at the main campus in Kaduna.
The committee outlined several key demands, including the immediate implementation of the 2026 Consolidated Non-Teaching Tool Allowance Agreement (CONTTA), payment of approved wage awards, provision of group life insurance, and payment of the Federal Government’s approved N70,000 six-month transport support for workers.
The unions also demanded full respect for university autonomy.
Commencing Monday, November 2, 2026, the seven-day notice warns that failure by relevant authorities to meet the demands will force the unions to initiate a warning strike.
“We wish to emphasize that this ultimatum is not an act of confrontation but a firm and collective demand for fairness, equity, justice, institutional autonomy, and respect for agreements duly negotiated,” the statement read.
While reiterating their commitment to constructive dialogue and industrial harmony, the JAC emphasized that peace cannot be sustained when negotiated agreements and worker welfare continue to be ignored.
The committee urged both the Kaduna State Government and KASU management to act swiftly to prevent a disruption of academic and administrative activities on campus.
