The Delta state government and the leading Peoples Democratic Party have been charged to adopt the true principles of democracy and desist from imposing the leadership of constituencies on the people of the state.

In a statement signed by a leading member of the Oshimili North Local Governmnet Area (LGA) of the state, Mr Vitalis Curtis, Governor Emanuel Uduaghan was accused of imposing Hon. Barr Pat Ajadua as a member of the state House of Representatives since the year 2003.

The statement accused the Delta state governor of working against the principles of Democracy in the interest of his alleged ally, Hon. Ajadua.

“Our Democracy must not be toiled with, as it is the government of the people, by the people and for the people. When other people are not given the opportunity, where then is the democracy?” The statement queried, adding that “ As such it is the people that have the final say on who to represent them, not the Governor and his cohorts in Asaba government house”, the statement added.”

It noted that it was the function of the citizenry to inform INEC and the leadership of PDP about the matter. “If no one tells the Governor, the least electorates in the constituency will, that is why it is been brought to the notice and attention of the independent National Electoral Commission, as well as the Hierarchy of the national executive and working committees of the PDP to probe the continuous tenure of Hon. Ajadua.

It further called on the leadership of the PDP to intervene on the matter before it gets out of hand. “Our prayers are that the PDP national leadership should, immediately set up a high powered committee of reputable PDP stalwarts to investigate and submit their findings to the chairman for action, if not, the chances of the PDP, with a long known face like that of Hon. Ajadua can lead to a failure for the party in the 2015 election.” The statement noted.
