Tinubu has solid Northern support for 2027, says APC chieftain

Date:

An influential member of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has declared that President Bola Tinubu remains the best candidate for the 2027 presidential election, insisting that support for his re-election in the North remains firm.

Kwankwaso said there was no panic or retreat among Tinubu’s supporters in the region despite sustained criticism of the President’s administration by opposition politicians.

He spoke on Tuesday while hosting journalists in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, where he expressed confidence that northern voters would back Tinubu for a second term.

“There is no panic and no going back in our support for Tinubu. The criticisms coming from the opposition will not stop us from voting for him in the North,” he said.

The APC chieftain dismissed criticisms of the administration as political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 general election, arguing that opposition rhetoric would not diminish the President’s growing political support.

He said voters in the North were increasingly concerned about issues that directly affected their lives, including economic recovery, insecurity, infrastructure, employment and national stability.

According to him, the administration’s policies, programmes and what he described as measurable achievements had strengthened confidence in Tinubu’s leadership.

Kwankwaso said supporters of the President would intensify grassroots mobilisation across the North to communicate the administration’s achievements and persuade more voters to support his re-election.

He urged APC members not to be distracted by what he called negative narratives from political opponents, stressing the need to strengthen party structures and maintain regular engagement with the electorate.

He added that the political coalition backing Tinubu remained united and committed to defending the President’s record ahead of the next general election.

Kwankwaso urged supporters across the region to remain steadfast, describing the 2027 election as an opportunity to sustain the administration’s development agenda and allow Tinubu more time to consolidate his policies and programmes.
