From Bashir Rabe Mani, Sokoto
The newly turbaned Dallatun Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Abdulkadir Dan’iya, has highlighted the role of journalists as essential partners in driving national development, peace, and public stability.
Dan’iya, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and business leader, stated this in Sokoto when members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto State Council, paid him a congratulatory visit following his conferment with the traditional title by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III.
Commending journalists in the state for their ethical standards and civic dedication, Dan’iya described the media as a key pillar in promoting peaceful coexistence, unity, and security across local communities.
He noted that media practitioners serve as critical bridges between the public and government, providing essential platforms for policy communication and public accountability under Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto’s administration.
“Such sustained support and solidarity are highly crucial in facilitating the success of all the programmes and policies of the APC-led administration in the state, whose penchant for accountability, transparency, and the provision of dividends of democracy is unparalleled,” Dan’iya said.
Expressing gratitude for the media coverage of his turbaning alongside his brother, Prof. Mansur Ibrahim (the new Dan Masanin Sokoto), Dan’iya assured journalists of a sustained partnership and pledged to expand his philanthropic initiatives across Sokoto State.
Speaking earlier on behalf of the delegation, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Ankeli Emmanuel, congratulated Dan’iya on his appointment and reaffirmed the media’s commitment to objective reporting in the state.
