The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has issued a strict ultimatum to the FCTA Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS) to immediately coordinate with the Gwagwalada Area Council for the prompt relocation of the local abattoir.
Speaking during a town hall meeting in Gwagwalada, the Minister addressed environmental, sanitation, and public health concerns raised by community stakeholders regarding the operation of the current slaughterhouse.
Directing his instruction directly to the Mandate Secretary for Agriculture, Ango Abdullahi, the Minister emphasized that swift execution of the relocation directive is non-negotiable.
“Liaise with the Chairman and the abattoir should be moved immediately. If you don’t do it, your job is at stake,” Wike warned.
The directive forms part of broader urban renewal and health interventions in the area.
Alongside the abattoir relocation order, Wike committed to reviving and completing the abandoned Gwagwalada Mini-Stadium to empower local youths through sports.
He also confirmed the December completion date for the crucial Zuba access road, and officially commissioned the newly built Gwagwalada Civic Centre.
