The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has flagged off the distribution of livelihood empowerment items and food assistance to 653 households affected by the 2025 floods in Kebbi State.
The flag-off, held in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, is part of the Federal Government’s nationwide Presidential Post-Flood Intervention Programme approved by President Bola Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking at the ceremony, NEMA Director General, Zubaida Umar, said the intervention was to complement earlier humanitarian assistance, accelerate recovery, restore livelihoods and strengthen community resilience against future disasters.
Umar, who was represented by the Director of Relief and Rehabilitation, Abbani Imam Garki, said the programme will be implemented across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
She said NEMA is working with State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs), MDAs, local government authorities and security agencies to ensure transparent and accountable distribution.
Governor Nasir Idris, represented by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Aliyu Umar, thanked the President and NEMA for their sustained support.
The Emir of Gwandu, Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, represented by the Ubandoman Gwandu, Sadiq Ibrahim-Saad, urged beneficiaries to use the items effectively.
Items distributed included sewing machines, grinding machines, cargo tricycles and assorted food items.
