A total of 41 traffic offenders were arrested and arraigned, with 26 cases were prosecuted and made to pay fines, 9 cases were adjoined, 5 discharged for lack of evidence and 1 case is to being investigated, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has said.
According the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, who made the disclosure; all the offenders were arraigned before the FCT Mobile Court for Traffic Offences.
Speaking after meeting with some senior officials of the FCT Transportation Secretariat in his office at A Garki I District, Abuja, Mohamed noted that the Mobile court is being used to prosecute traffic offenders by maintaining regular sitting across the Federal Capital City.
On illegal mechanic workshops, the minister stressed that the Administration is aware of this illegal activity in some undeveloped plots in some parts of the Federal Capital City.
He added that a Joint Task Force involving the FCT Development Control, Nigeria Police Force, NDLEA and the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) is already working to stop the menace.
