Sudan coach Mohamed ‘Mazda’ Abdalla has boasted his team can win again away in Nigeria on Wednesday when they face African champions Nigeria in a 2015 AFCON qualifier. In an interview with journalists at the Bole International Airport in Ethiopia on Sunday, Abdalla that they are hungry to record a second win in Group A.
“We started the campaign on a wrong note losing 3-0 to South Africa, but this was all because of the impact of coming out of the fasting period for Muslims which meant that the players were still weak,” explained the experienced coach as his team waited to connect a flight to Nigeria.
After losing the two opening games, Sudan managed a 1-0 win over the Super Eagles on Saturday in Khartoum to bring back their campaign on track. Bakri Almadina scored the lone goal that has motivated the Sudan team to travel to Abuja and hunt for another three points.
‘Mazda’ said that they are going to Nigeria to put up a real fight. “We know what to expect because Nigeria is bottom of the table and badly need to get a win. But we shall not give them that room to do what they want to do,” cautioned the coach who was in-charge when the team took part in the 2012 AFCON finals.
