A Lagos state bus conductor has been arraigned before a Lagos court for biting off the ear of a passenger over the sum of N20.

The 32-year old conductor, Taye Ajayi, bit off a passenger’s ear after a disagreement between both of them around Egbeda, Lagos.

The victim, Kabiru Olugbemi boarded the bus, but paid N30 instead of the N50 fare for the route.

When he got to Micon bus stop, along Egbeda road, he alighted from the bus but just as he was walking away, the conductor grabbed his left ear, bit it off, and threw it on the ground.

Olugbemi was immediately rushed to a hospital with his chopped-off ear, but the doctors said the ear could not be reattached.

The issue was subsequently reported to Idimu police Station, after which Ajayi was arrested and charged to court.

He was charged with inflicting permanent injury on the victim, and he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Mr. P.E. Nwaka, the presiding magistrate, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending the time he fulfils his bail conditions, while the matter was adjourned till October 16.
