Former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Mr Michael Abdul, has picked the expression of interest and the nomination forms to contest the gubernatorial seat of the state under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing journalists shortly after picking his nomination form at the PDP national secretariat, Wadata House, in Abuja, Mr. abdul promised to restore peace and security in the state if given the mandate to steer the wheel of governance in 2015.
He said the blight of insecurity and inter-communal clashes that has characterized the state in the past three years has cost it enormously in human capital and projected the state in bad light.
The former Managing Director of the defunct Lion Bank also promised to work assiduously towards ensuring that taxes collected from those who work in Abuja and reside in Nasarawa State are repatriated to the state to boost the revenue base of the state, intent upon providing the badly needed social amenities for the citizens of Nasarawa State.
He stressed that the failure of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) to successfully negotiate a consensus candidate is not a setback as being viewed but it only goes to show the beauty of democracy by giving every aspirant the platform to test his popularity .
“Consensus is good in every democracy but where it cannot be reached it is expected that every contestant should be given equal opportunity to prove himself in the primary election”.
He added that the party will try to avoid the mistakes of the past that cost it leadership of the state in 2011 were internal wrangling gave victory to the opposition.
“If the party primaries are conducted fairly, I will accept the result and work with whoever emerges as the flag bearer of party” he stated.
