The embattled Governor of Adamawa state, James Bala Ngilari, has finally been shoved out of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship race of Adamawa, after a decision taken by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC). Disclosing this to newsmen yesterday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, said the decision was arrived after the eight aspirants for governorship agreed to zone the candidate to Adamawa-Central.
Ngilari, who hails from the Adamawa-North, has also indicated interest to run as governor after he has purchased the nomination form to that effect, which the party assured would be substituted for a guaranteed same nomination form by 2019.
According to the National Publicity Secretary, the NWC observed the expiration of the tenures of Imo, Abia, Anambra states executive members of the party and directed that the state Exco continue as caretaker committee members but have no right to participate in the upcoming congresses of the party. He also stated that the NWC has extended the sales of nomination forms to interested aspirants by one week which is 6th November, 2014.
It could be recalled that aspirants comprising of Idi Hong, Ahmad Umar Fintiri, Ahmed Gulak, Awwal Tukur and some others, in a joint press briefing on Wednesday, pledged their unalloyed support to the party’s decision, which they said “reign supreme over anyone’s decision”.
