The 2015 gubernatorial ambition of Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero received a boost yesterday in Kaduna when stakeholders from Zone II made up of Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Igabi, Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Giwa and Kajuru local government areas unanimously endorsed him as the PDP gubernatorial candidate in 2015 election.

Addressing a mammoth crowd at the Zone II stakeholders town hall meeting held at the Yar’adua Hall, Murtala Square, Director-General on Media and Publicity to the governor, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki said despite spending less than two years as Kaduna State Governor, Yero has sunk 250 boreholes across the seven local government areas that made up the zone.

Maiyaki added that the governor has completed 12 roads in Kaduna Central Zone (Zone II), while five others are at different stages of completion.

The state is also building 14 primary health care facilities at the cost of N231.8 million across the Zone II, which comprises of Kaduna South, Kaduna North, Igabi, Chikun, Birnin Gwari, Giwa and Kajuru local government areas.

“Governor Yero came in when Kaduna State was marred in crises but today, there is peace. People of Birnin Gwari now live in peace; the peaceful nature of the state has also attracted foreign investors that have come in to invest in the state. The Ikara Tomato Processing Company and the Peugeot Automobile Nigeria are examples of some of the re-vitalised companies.”

The DG said despite cries from some quarters that Governor Yero has neglected the 22 roads awarded by the late Governor Patrick Yakowa, the governor has completed many of the roads and work is nearing

Government has also carried out rural electricity and distribution of subsidized fertilizer.

The Speaker Kaduna State House of Assembly, Shehu Usman Tahir in his remarks, said the town hall meeting is aimed at bringing stakeholders from the central zone together to know each other, reminisce and plan for a better tomorrow by supporting the candidate of choice considering the importance of the zone to Kaduna State and the PDP.
