It would be recalled in 2013, the first edition of the competition was played in Kaduna when the Zamfara state football squad emerged winner, which qualified them automatically to host the just concluded 2014 competition.

Speaking with Peoples Daily Sports, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the ZVFC, Engineer Shehu Madawaki, called on the state government to intensify efforts in assisting the state veterans team as such would help to improve sporting activities in the state.

The PRO further announced that, it was unanimously agreed that the 2015 competition will hold in Kano state despite their loss in the tournament, adding that, the decision would encourage its participation as well as the expected high number of other interesting states.
