Taraba govt assures corps members of adequate security

Over two thousand ‘2014 Batch-C Corps members deployed to Taraba state for a one year compulsory national service to the country have been sworn-in, in preparation for a three-week orientation course at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Temporary Orientation Camp, Jalingo.

The Act of Allegiance was administered by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Josephine Tuktur, who was represented by Justice Philibus Andetur.

Speaking at the ceremony, the state Acting Governor, Alh. Garba Umar admonished the corps members posted to the State to feel free, committed and be dedicated to their responsibilities, adding that such are the reasons why they were posted to the state.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Garvey Yaweh, the Acting Governor reiterated the State Government’s determination to take proper care of the Corps members with an assurance of adequate security.

Alh. Garba Umar further stated that within their three weeks’ orientation exercise in the camp, they will be exposed to so many trainings, skills acquisition and advised them to take the trainings serious to better their lives, render better services to the communities of their primary assignment.

The Chairman, NYSC Governing Board, who is also the Commissioner of Social Welfare, Youth and Sports, Alh. Hadi Haruna Lau, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Useni Modibbo described the NYSC orientation course as a credible platform which youths all over the nation are groomed.

Earlier, in his address of welcome, the state Coordinator, NYSC, Mr. Freeman Tumba, while appreciating the state Government’s donation of an 18-Seater Hiace Bus to NYSC opined that a total number of two thousand, seven hundred corps members posted to the state would be taking part in the opening ceremony.

He enjoined the corps members to have it at the back of their minds that their being posted to Taraba State was never by accident, rather designed by God. He charged them to be good Ambassadors of NYSC by exhibiting all the values and norms of the NYSC.
