From Ahmed Kaigama, Bauchi
A political group, Watchdog for Democratic Accountability, has rejected the All Progressive Congress (APC) proposed Mini convention in Bauchi North Senatorial District to select consensus candidate from the zone as the party’s Bauchi governorship aspirant in the forth coming general election.
A statement signed by the Chairman and secretary of the group, Awwal Ibrahim Azare and Husseini Ahmed Dambam, which was made available to newsmen in Bauchi yesterday, they faulted the decision of the APC elders forum from the zone to organize such unconstitutional mini convention.
They said that in the APC constitution, “all the aspirants most go through primary election both Yusuf Tuggar, Sadik Mahmud and Nuhu Gidado, adding that the governorship candidate of the party in the state must emerge through free and fair primary election and not through selection.
The Statement advised both State and National leadership of APC to intervene in order to prevent any unconstitutional Act in the Party.
In his response, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Awwal Jallah said “no one inform the party officially about the mini convention, the state chapter of the party will not support any unconstitutional act”.
