A governorship aspirant from Kano State, Alhaji Salihu Sagir Takai, yesterday said he has the agenda and programmes that can give victory to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kano State 2015 election.
Takai stated this yesterday after he submitted his guber nomination forms at the national secretariat of the PDP in Abuja.
He said “winning the candidacy of PDP is a party affair. You will canvass among the delegates, tell them about your programmes and if they accept it, you will win.”
“In any case, you have to come and sell your programmes and then it is left for them to consider it. So I am optimistic that, by the grace of God, I will win”.
On the challenge of unseating the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, He said “Just like while they were in government in 1999, we were outside and we came in 2003 and we won. And it happened that in 2011 we were with malam Shekarau, and for whatever reason they came into government. So if you see there are a lot of chances for us to work it out and win.
“So, it is something that is not one-sided. It depends on you, your agenda, what you have for the people and then you sell to the people.”
On the security issue, he said it would require a collective effort to tackle it, from the communities, state, federal government, up to the international community.
“We have a lot of plan on that. The issue of security is not that of Nigeria alone. One has to do as much as he can and with the collaboration of other stakeholders, we will surmount the challenge”, he said.
