The Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have said that the state government is not sincere with the security situation in the state, alleging that it is using the crisis to its advantage by disenfranchise electorates in the state.

Addressing a press conference at the state party secretariat along Jos road Lafia, the state chairman of the party, chief Yunana iliya, said the state government has not done anything for the over 120 thousand displaced by various communal crises in the state.

According to him, “The administration has continued to spend tax payers’ money in the name of addressing insecurity but up to this moment, nothing has been achieved in this direction.

“It is also clear that the kind of money being spent in the name of security has led to a fraudulent practice where the state governor, in a broad daylight without remorse, chooses to distribute relief materials to selected APC members in the name of displace persons in a fun fare at the city Hall Lafia instead of visiting the Refugee camps to perform such functions”.

“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has watched with keen interest the recent happening across the state in the few weeks, especially the Southern part of the state where communal crises have ravaged over 42 communities and some parts Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area”, he said.

Iliya alleged that the governor has ignored the plight of the displaced persons and continued to lay emphasis of a scientific method of “we know those behind the crises”, lamenting that the carnage has continued unabated.

Efforts to get reaction from the state commissioner of information, Hamza Elayo proved abortive, as calls put to his mobile phone was not returned.

Meanwhile, the state secretary of the APC, Aliyu Bello, has said that the PDP is behind the crisis, arguing that federal government has refused to prosecute those indicted by the commission of inquiry into the Alakyo killings.
