Bauchi 2015: Group warns Mua’azu against imposing Yayale Ahmed

A group under the auspices of Bauchi Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) Project 2015, has warned against the attempt by the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu, to impose a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Alhaji Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, as the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the 2015 general election.

This is even as the group warned that the Bauchi electorates, whom it described as politically wise and law-abiding, should not be taken for granted, considering how they thoroughly rejected PDP in the 2007 general election.

Addressing a press conference in Bauchi, the chairman of Bauchi PDP Project 2015, Abubakar Abdullahi Jahun, alleged that the group was aware that Mu’azu had, through the Principal Personal Secretary to President Goodluck Jonathan, Alhaji Hassan Tukur, introduced Yayale Ahmed to the President as the best material for Bauchi governorship in 2015.

According to Jahun, the group was not against the governorship ambition of the ex-Minister of Defence, saying that its concern was the trouble PDP faithful were subjected to whenever the choice of who would become the next governor of the state was being decided.

According to the Bauchi PDP Project 2015, “selecting Yayale to fly the party’s flag will be a political disaster.”

He stated that the choice of who becames governor of the state was not the prerogative of any individual, not even the incumbent Governor Isa Yuguda or whoever happened to be the governor, declaring that it was for all stakeholders in the PDP family.

Jahun stated that Mu’azu ought to have learnt from what happened in the 2007 elections in the state, when he as the incumbent governor the PDP, lost not only the governorship election but also other elections, including Mu’azu’s senatorial election, to the then All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) led then by Governor Yuguda.

“What baffles us most is why Mu’azu is habitually in the habit of undermining his party. We are not unaware that Mu’azu has smuggled Alhaji Mahmud Yayale through Principal Personal Secretary, Alhaji Hassan Tukur, to see the President on the deceptive mission of selling Yayale to the President as the best material for Bauchi governorship in 2015”, he said.
