The United Progressive Party (UPP) has lamented what it described as the heartless massacre of over 46 students of Government Senior Science Secondary School, Potiskum in Yobe State by a suicide bomber who masqueraded as a student of the school.

“It is outrageous, barbaric and wicked”, UPP said in a statement issued by the National Secretary of the party, Bello Umar.

The party regretted that the killing of the innocent students came at a time the nation is still mourning the slaughter of 82 people by a suicide bomber at Old Market Road in Potiskum on Monday 3rd November.

“This madness must stop. Enough is enough. The Federal Government should take its responsibility of protecting lives and property seriously, in tandem with section 14(2)(b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which states that, security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government”, the statement said.

It called on the security agencies to sit up and flush out Boko Haram insurgents from the country, saying this has become a task that must be done immediately.

While warning that Nigerians will not tolerate any excuse for allowing the insurgents to occupy an inch of the nation’s territory, UPP commiserated with the families of those who lost their children in the dastardly act.
