Football match between Kwara U-13 and their Jigawa counterpart on Thursday, was temporary disrupted at halftime when Adetunji Tayo, coach of Kwara team the stormed the pitch and flogged his players.
Tayo who was visibly unsatisfied in spite of his side’s 1-0 advantage at half time raged into pitch and whipped the young players to the embarrassment of all present including Nigeria School Sports Federation officials. Andrew Ikoga, coordinator of football event appealed for calm and instructed that the match should continue, the game ended 2-1 in favour of Jigawa.
Also the wrestling match between Kano and Cross River female was also disrupted on Wednesday following an alleged unprofessional conduct by the cross River wrestler. The situation degenerated when Rabiu Abdul an official from Kano mobilized his students into the wrestling mat in protest and hurled stone on their contemporaries.
Consequently, about four Cross river children were wounded and taking for medical attention including the female wrestler from Kano. To save the situation, the NSSF officials alerted the police who calmed the situation and took Rabiu for questioning.
NSSF President, Mallam Ibrahim Mohammad who arrived almost immediately chastised the unruly officials, adding that the federation would not spare anyone who indulged in conducts that were not worthy of emulation. Mohammad told sports writers that all wounded athletes were in good condition and already enjoying their games.
He said the federation would constitute a disciplinary committee that would examine the issues and recommend appropriate sanctions against the erring officials.
