The Northern Elders Council (NEC) has congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan for picking his party’s nomination to contest for the 2015 general elections.

In a statement, signed by the council’s spokesman, Ambassador Yusuf Mamman, the council has assured the president and his vice unalloyed and full support in the fight against insecurity in the country.

Mamman called on all Nigerians to unite and support the efforts of federal government and the military leadership to bring an end to the continued blood-letting in our fatherland.

The council also reaffirmed its continued support for Jonathan/Sambo ticket and call on Northerners to continue to give support to the president and his vice.

“The Vice-President, Arch Namadi Sambo is our leader in the North, who has continued to enjoy our goodwill and support at all time, because he has demonstrated unflinching loyalty to the president and has brought to bear his technocratic skills and deep political ingenuity in creating bridges across the North. He has added immeasurable values towards the institutionalization of democracy, rule of law and social justice across the region,” Mamman stated.
