The Director General of Centre for Management Development (CMD), Dr Kabir Kabo Usman, has been appointed as a member of the Governing Board and Pro Chancellor of African Business School (ABS).
A statement by Dr Kabir Kabo Usman’s Media Consultant, Abdulkadir Ahmed Ibrahim said he was formally installed on Saturday at the 15th Anniversary and combined Convocation, Matriculation, Investiture of new Fellows and Call to Hall of Fame celebrations of the School held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
He succeeded Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame (Dr) Patience Jonathan while Dr David Graves replaced the current Chairman of National Universities Commission and one time Nigeria’s Federal Commissioner of Education, Col Dr Ahmadu Ali, whose tenures ended.
African Business School, ABS, is one of the fully accredited leading independent Business Schools in Africa that offer quality Professional education in Administration, Accounting, Information Technology and Marketing. It also trains Cost and Management Accountants and is the study centre for Chartered Institute of Administration.
Aged 57, Dr Kabir who hails from Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State, attended Kabo Primary School (1964 to 1970), Government Secondary School Dambatta, Kano State (1971 to 1975,) and Federal School of Arts and Science, Sokoto (1975 to 1976).
He was at Bayero University Kano from 1976 to 1981, Manchester University, United Kingdom , 1983 to 1984 and again at Manchester University from 1984 to 1988, for his B.Sc, M.Sc and Ph D qualifications respectively. Dr Kabir Kabo also holds a Certificate of Education, a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (Teaching Qualifications) of Huddersfield University (1994 to 1996) and a
Masters Degree in Business Administration obtained in 2006 at Manchester Metropolitan University also in the United Kingdom.
Speaking after the investiture and at a Dinner in honor of the new Fellows of the African Business School, ABS, Dr Kabir Kabo Usman said Education, Leadership, Management and Administration are Keys to Transformtaion and charged the Graduates and the Fellows to use the knowledge and skills they learnt and acquired to join in the task of transforming the society.
Dr Kabir Kabo disclosed that with an inward investment of about 9.7 trillion naira into Nigeria within the last three years and a turnover of about 7 trillion naira in the telecommunication sector in the last one year alone, there are a lot of business and employment opportunities that can be harnessed to solve some of the social and economic problems of the country.
In his remarks, the Minister for Special Duties who also superintends the Labour portfolio, Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, said the educational policy of President Goodluck Ebele
Jonathan’s administration focuses more on vocational and professional education for Nigerian Youths to be skillfully trained and educated to be self employed and become employers of labour eventually.
He implored the graduates and the new fellows to be good ambassadors of the school and charged them to fulfill the obligations expected of them by contributing positively to the progress and development of the society.
