Modric out till 2015

Date:

The Croatian FA have confirmed that the injury sustained by Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric will keep him on the sidelines until February. The Croatian FA have announced that the 29-year-old will likely be out of action until next year following an injury picked up in the Euro 2016 qualifier against Italy

The 29-year-old suffered the blow in the first half of the Euro 2016 qualifier between Italy and Croatia, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Modric was withdrawn and underwent scans upon returning to Madrid, and, according to los Blancos’ official site, the results showed a tear to his left thigh muscle.

The Croatian FA have now released official communications confirming that the Real Madrid man will face approximately three months on the sidelines.

“In the 28th minute of the match at San Siro, Modric had to ask for a substitution after experiencing pain in the muscle, and MRI scans in Madrid showed it was a serious injury,” the official statement reads.

“Due to the almost complete tear of muscles in the left leg, Modric will be away from the pitch for approximately three months.

“An operation will not be needed; Modric will be treated with conservative methods.”

Modric is not expected to return to action until next year and thus will miss participating in the upcoming Club World Cup.
