Coach Kadiri Ikhana of Enyimba FC of Aba said his team’s attention has now shifted to this weekend’s Federation Cup final against Dolphin FC of Port Harcourt which will hold at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos. Ikhana, who lamented the painful loss of the league to bitter rivals Kano Pillars, said Enyimba must move on and win the Federation Cup to compensate their teeming fans all over Nigeria and across Africa.
“Everybody knew we had the chance of winning the trophy (the league title), but the draw we got at Dolphins could not help the situation, but I’m still happy with the Champions League ticket we got at the end of the season. Congratulations to Kano Pillars, and I wish the two of us (Enyimba and Kano Pillars) good luck next year in the CAF champions League,” Ikhana stated.
“I have told my players that we can’t afford to lose the Federation Cup after losing the Premier League to Kano Pillars, and they have all promised to beat Dolphins in Lagos,” the former Giwa, Sunshine and Super Falcons coach added.
The Peoples Elephant as Enyimba are fondly called by their supporters are the defending champions of the Federation Cup. They defeated Warri Wolves in last year’s final held at the same Teslim Balogun Stadium.
