#Osun Decides 2002: Tinubu is killing democracy, Davido cries out

Date:

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of undermining democracy amid the ongoing Osun State governorship election.

The singer made the allegation in a post on X on Saturday while reacting to reports surrounding security deployment during the election.

In a post on X on Saturday he wrote, “Because we are winning. They want to withdraw the police and military! MR PRESIDENT TINUBU ! UR KILLING DEMOCRACY.”

Earlier, the musician had appealed to officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to make use of the front camera on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) whenever the main camera develops faults.

Davido gave the advice through a post on his X account as voting continued across polling units in the state.

“If your BVAS camera is not working, please tell the officials to use front camera. It is very active and fast!,” he stated.

His comment came amid reports from some polling units that experienced technical difficulties with BVAS devices during the accreditation process.

The BVAS is used by INEC to accredit voters through fingerprint and facial recognition, among other electoral functions.

Davido has been actively commenting on developments surrounding the Osun governorship election. In recent days, he also called on both local and international election observers to closely monitor the conduct of the poll.
