Amaechi’s out to ruin our democracy, alleges Youth group

Date:

Gov Rotimi AmaechiBy Stanley Onyekwere

As controversy continues to trail comments by Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi threatening anarchy if the All Progressives Congress (APC), does not win elections in 2015, the Nigerian Youth Arise for Positive Change has demanded that he tenders an unreserved apology for saying so.

Recall that Governor Ameachi, at the redemption rally held in Abuja last week, threatened that there would be violence and anarchy if the All Progressives Congress (APC) losses next year’s polls.

Condemning the call, the National President, Comrade Charles Ubani, in a press conference, said Amaechi’s statement was provocative and undemocratic.

He noted that the governor had exhibited the highest level of anti democracy by calling for war, if his will wasn’t to be done.

According to Ubani, the outgoing governor was an ingrate as he is trying to destroy democracy which made him what he is today.

The leader of the association said Amaechi who got his right to lead the Rivers people through a democratic process should be the first in line for the defence of a process that made him.

He adds: “I make bold to state here that Amaechi is an ingrate. How can he render such statement capable of truncating a democracy he has enjoyed first hand?

“This is a governor who was made governor by a court ruling which is the paramount dividend of democracy, how can he say such provocative declaration?”

The group however, called on the governor to tender unreserved apology to the nation for trying to stir up violence.

He further asked that per chance Amaechi failed to tender apologies, law enforcement agents should take note and watch closely his actions.

Comr. Ubani further called on all Nigerian youth to shun the call to violence by Amaechi but instead support the current government in her efforts to deepen democracy and its tenets.

He advised the youth to rather than avail themselves for use as thugs by undeserving politicians,  should concentrate on their education.
