Sultan of Sokoto urges govt to increase investment in education

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakr III, on Tuesday, called on government at all levels to increase their investment in education.

The Sultan, who is also the head of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), made the call at the 72nd National Islamic Vocational Course in Birnin Kebbi.

The course was organised by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) in Birnin Kebbi.

Represented by the Emir of Maradun, Alhaji Muhammad Garba, the sultan said increased investment to education would improve quality and disciplined students.

He said students needed high educational standards to be the future worthy ambassadors and good leaders.

The National leader of the Society, Malam Sirajudeen Abdulaziz, called on President Goodluck Jonathan to intensify efforts toward bringing to an end the insurgency in many parts of the country.

He said insurgency had crippled development in the country.

The Governor of Kebbi, Alhaji Saidu Dakingari, said Nigeria’s problems could only be solved if the people elected good leaders come 2015 general elections. (NAN)
