The Esu of Bwari, Abuja, Ibrahim Yaro, has called on Christians and Muslims in the area to continue to promote peaceful co-existence for the development of the plcae.
Yaro made the call yesterday, when the Bwari Christians/Muslims Inter-Faith Forum paid him a courtesy visit.
“This is the first occasion that the leaders of the two religions will come together for the welfare of the people of the council.
“The diversity should be explored to promote national harmony, progress and development,’’ Yaro said.
Yaro further called on the leaders of the two religions to enlighten their followers on the need to embrace peace, more so that the 2015 general elections drew nearer.
He also warned youth in the area against being used by politicians as thugs to foment trouble, saying that such politicians would never use their children.
Earlier, the Chairman of the forum, Malam Ibrahim Yusuf, said the forum had resolved to foster peace and ensure security in the area.
Yusuf also said that the forum would strive to prevail on leaders of both religions to genuinely preach the word of God to promote religious harmony.
Also, Chairman of Bwari chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Amos Knatnabwa, said both religions would continue to promote peaceful co-existence.
Knatnabwa said: “No war against peace in Bwari Area Council will prevail.’’
He therefore urged politicians to be prepared to accept the results that would be declared from the 2015 elections in good faith and not to incite their followers to violence. (NAN)
