The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Benin zone, yesterday called for the sack of Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. John Oladapo Obafunwa, over his alleged involvement in the
crisis rocking the institution.
The institution’s management and its ASUU chapter have been on warpath after the later kicked against the recent increase in tuition fees.
Coordinator of the Benin zone, Mr. Anthony Monte-Emina at a news conference on Wednesday, called on Governor Raji Fashola and visitor to the institution “to call the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oladapo
Obafunwa to order”.
He alleged that the VC has devised a machinery of oppression on ASUU members for their steadfastness in prosecuting the struggle.
“As I speak with you now, ASUU-LASU chairman, Prof. Tunde Fatunde’s Ph.D certificate has been purportedly withdrawn by authorities of the institution.
“In addition to this is an orchestrated but unsuccessful fictionalisation and move to stop check-off deductions in an attempt to strangle the union in the university”, he stated.
