Nigeria’s key gas pipeline, theTrans-Forcados gas pipeline was vandalized and has resulted to a drop of available maximum distributable megawatts of electricity nationwide to 3000.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) disclosed this yesterday saying that the maximum generated electricity available for it to transmit for distribution across the country has dropped to 3000 megawatts (MW)
TCN revealed in a statement that was signed by its Assistant General Manager, Public Affairs, Dave Ifabiyi in Abuja that the unexpected drop in power generation has resulted in the country’s electricity generation which averaged about 4500MW in recent times dropping by nearly 1500MW.
The statement observed that the drop will call for regular supply rationing because gas supply to three key power generation companies, Egbin, Olorunsogo, and Geregu have been affected with the development.
