From Olanrewaju Lawal, Ilorin

The President of the Seventh-Day-Adventist church in Nigeria, Pastor Oyeleke Owolabi, has said that members of the Boko Haram sect are not true Muslims .

Owolabi stated this in Ilorin, Kwara state during an interview with Journalists.

The Owolabi, who is the President of the Seventh-Day-Adventist church in Nigeria and Pro-chancellor of Babcock University described Islam as a religion of peace, saying that anybody that kills fellow human being is not a true believer of the teachings of the two holy books.

Pastor Owolabi said all hands must be on deck to fight insurgency in the country as government or the security agencies could not do it alone.

He noted that terrorism could be fought through four major institutions; the family, political parties, traditional institutions and religious leaders as the insurgents belong to any of these groups.

The cleric declared that both Islam and Christianity have been commercialised by various spiritual leaders and advised Nigerians to be careful about the type of churches or mosques they attend.

He called on religious leaders to shun partisan politics and appealed to religious leaders to have large hearts to accommodate all political leaders and tell them the truth.

Pastor Owolabi said if Nigeria wants to witness a free and fair election on February, electorates should act according to rules and avoid electoral frauds.
