Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has pledged Government’s commitment to comply with the Jan. 13, 2014 judgment granting financial autonomy to the judiciary.
Anyim made the pledge at a meeting with the National Executive Council of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in Abuja on Monday
Anyim said monitoring committees would be set up to ensure compliance with the judgment at both federal and state levels.
He said that members of the committees would be drawn from the SGF’s office, states, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Office of the Chief Registrars of Courts (CRs), NLC and JUSUN.
He said the committees would be headed by chairmen of NBA in states while the Chief Registrars in states would serve as secretaries.
He commended JUSUN for fighting for the future of the judiciary in the country.
Earlier, the President of JUSUN, Marwan Adamu, told newsmen that the NEC decided to suspend the strike in Federal High Courts following FG’s commitment to comply with the judgment.
