AAC asks FG to rejig security architecture over killing of 43 Borno rural rice farmers

The African Action Congress (AAC) has expressed shock and outrage over the beheading of over 43 rice farmers by Boko Haram insurgents at Zabarmari village of Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.
In a statement issued yesterday by the acting Nation publicity Secretary of the party, Sylvester Cletus, the party described the killing as not only diabolical, but also satanic and hellish.
It said it is inconceivable that these insurgents would slaughter their fellow compatriots in their farmland without qualms, pointing out that across the country, it is a reign of terror as Nigerians are being killed, kidnapped and robbed with impunity by criminal elements in the society.
“Security agents seem to be overwhelmed as the country turns to a gory killing field. This madness must stop forthwith. Government exists to protect lives and property of the citizenry. Neglecting this crucial responsibility is an invitation to anarchy.
“AAC commiserates with members of the families of the deceased and pray to God Almighty to comfort and strengthen them in this period of grief. The party demands immediate overhaul of the nation’s security architecture to effectively tackle the insecurity in the land.
“It is sad that this giant of Africa and pride of the black race is now the third most terrorized nation in the world, according to the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) report released last week. It is a tragic commentary in our collective quest for sustainable democracy in Nigeria. The populace demands dividends of democracy not carnage. Enough is enough.
“As a mass movement, AAC is deeply concerned on the security and welfare of the masses. The party is being repositioned to play key roles as the third leg in the nation’s political tripod ahead of the 2023 political contests”, the party said in the statement.
It also said it is time to make Nigeria great again, raise the people’s standards of living and reinforce their belief in a united, peaceful, progressive, prosperous and egalitarian democratic nation.
