The African Alliance Party has challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission over the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress(NDC), demanding the release of the court judgement cited by the commission.

In a statement on Thursday, the AAP National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, said the party’s findings at the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, showed there was no certified true copy of the judgement referenced by INEC in registering the NDC.

INEC had on February 5, 2026, announced the registration of the NDC at its headquarters in Abuja.

Sadiq said the AAP, which he maintained met the requirements for registration as a political party, began inquiries after its own application was not approved.

According to him, checks conducted at the Lokoja division of the Federal High Court did not produce a certified copy of the judgement the commission allegedly relied upon.

The party also questioned why the NDC was not listed among associations seeking registration in previous communications by the commission before its approval was announced.

AAP called on INEC to make public the court order it relied on in registering the NDC.

The party said it would pursue all lawful means to seek redress, insisting that due process must be followed in the registration of political parties.

It urged the electoral body to review its decision and act in line with the law.
