Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, on Tuesday while welcoming lawmakers back from the Sallah and Easter recess, reaffirmed  the 10th House’s resolve to advance legislative excellence, economic reform, national unity, and security.

Speaking at the resumption of plenary, the Speaker highlighted major milestones achieved before the break, including the passage of key tax reform bills and the House’s swift constitutional response to political unrest in Rivers State, which led to the endorsement of a state of emergency and the setup of a 21-member Ad-Hoc Committee for oversight.

He also announced plans to work with the Senate to constitute a high-level Reconciliation Committee to promote peace in Rivers and other conflict-affected areas.

He also urged lawmakers to strengthen disaster preparedness as Nigeria braces for severe flooding in over thirty states.

As the 10th House approaches its second anniversary, Abbas announced a series of public engagements, including the Public Policy Dialogue (May 12), a Citizens’ Engagement Roundtable, and the House Open Week (July 1–4).
