Abducted Gov. Okowa’s in-law freed with N100m ransom

Abductors of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s sister- in-law abducted few weeks ago by gunmen in Asaba, Delta State, have freed her after collecting N100 million ransom from the governor.
Though the Police Commissioner in the state, Adeleke Adeyinka refused to confirm the ransom paid, but confirmed the release of the woman after a long battle by security agents in the state.
With jubilation in Government House especially around Mrs Edith Okowa,it was gathered that the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had issued a matching order to the Commissioner of Police in the state to redouble his efforts with a view to ensuring no reoccurring decimal in the state henceforth.
The state had been under siege of kidnappers and ritual activities in the past few months with several persons kidnapped and subsequently released with ransom paid.
However, police denied the story as untrue saying that the Force have arrested many suspected hoodlums and kidnappers in the state, adding that the state had been in relatively peaceful coexistence over times.
It would be recalled that Okowa sister-in-law was abducted few weeks ago around Inter bou round about in Asaba when she just left the GTB Bank where she went for some transactions by a six- man armed gang who drove her in her car to an unknown destination.
Since then, there has been palpable tension and fear of the unknown in the state, especially within the family of the victim and the governor’s wife who is a direct elder sister of the victim.
Sources said she was released around Edo State bush path where she was kept few weeks ago by her abductors.
