Abducted schoolgirls: Plateau journalists, NLC and CSOs stage peaceful march

Journalists, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and members of the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) yesterday in Jos, capital of Plateau state capital, staged a peaceful march from the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) headquarters, in Jos, to the Plateau state House of Assembly, asking the rescue and return of the abducted schoolgirls from Government Girls’ Secondary School Chibok, in Borno state.

The protest, which started from the morning hours included members of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), who walked to the Plateau State House of Assembly, where they were addressed by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Joyce Ramnap.

The State president of International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Ladi Madaki said, “Posterity will not forgive us if we keep quiet. Our appeal is for the girls to come out alive, unharmed and be reunited with their families and the hope of all children in Nigeria is that there is a right to education, survival and exercise of free will.”

In her words, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Ramnap, urged all Nigerians to come together and fight terrorism irrespective of ethnicity and religion.
