Former Bauchi State governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar SAN, popularly known as MA Abubakar, has outlined an ambitious infrastructure and development agenda for the state as he secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial nomination form, promising a renewed push to transform Bauchi into a model of growth and prosperity.
The form was presented to him in Abuja by the MA Abubakar Strategic Committee in the presence of party leaders, loyalists, and supporters, marking a decisive step in his political comeback.
Speaking at the event, Abubakar placed infrastructure and economic revitalisation at the heart of his vision. “If re-elected by the grace of God, I pledge to build firmly on these foundations and deliver even more improved, inclusive, and transformative governance,” he declared.
Emphasising the state’s untapped potential, he said, “Bauchi State is blessed with abundant human and natural resources — fertile land, minerals, tourism potential, and a resilient, hardworking population.”
He added with conviction, “Together, we will harness these endowments to create jobs, boost agriculture and economic activities, strengthen infrastructure, and expand access to quality education and healthcare.”
The former governor pointed to his previous record as proof that his plans are achievable. “We awarded contracts for over 175 kilometres of road projects across the state, invested in rural electrification, and improved water supply through major projects including the rehabilitation of Gubi Dam,” he recalled.
Stressing the importance of continuity, he noted, “These achievements, recorded under very difficult economic conditions, demonstrate what focused, transparent, and people-oriented leadership can deliver.”
He further assured that future interventions would be broader and more impactful, targeting both urban centres and rural communities.
Reaffirming his commitment to the people, Abubakar said, “I assure the good people of Bauchi State that I will not disappoint you.”
He described his ambition as people-driven, adding, “This ambition is not personal — it is a collective aspiration, driven by the widespread calls and support I have received.”
With optimism, he concluded, “We are not where we want to be, but we are certainly far from where we used to be… and by the grace of God, Bauchi will become a model state for others in Nigeria.”
