Abuja Disco promises improved services

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has expressed commitment to provide adequate power supply and improved level of service to its customers in Kogi, Abuja, Nasarawa and Niger states.

This was contained in a statement issued yesterday by the Head, Public Affairs of the company, Mrs. Patience Toyo.

Mrs. Toyo said the company was currently faced with problems of low load allocation from the transmission sector, vandalism of our network and poor state of electrical infrastructures.

She noted that Abuja Distribution Company (Disco) in its effort of ensuring power supply has embarked on programmes to replace faulty equipment and reinforce the network.

“In line with this, the company recently procured hundreds of transformers and other supporting equipment such as feeder pillars, conductors and accessories which are being installed the service areas to address faults and overloaded circuits,” the statement said.

The spokesperson said the injection substations were recently upgraded in Lokoja and Suleja while reinforcement works would be completed in few weeks to improve supply in Apo, Karu, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Lugbe and its environs.

The Company said it has improved customer relations in the various customer care centres at their business units as efforts are ongoing to establish a 24 hour call centre to handle complaints.

While urging customers to pay their bills promptly and guide against vandalism, it said it is modernising its vending system for prepaid meters to use cell phones, scratch cards, Point of Sales and other enhanced payment options.
