Abuja is not for all, declares Mbu

Date:

. . . Pledges to do more work in FCT than Rivers, others

By Stanley Onyekwere

The former Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mbu, who was recently moved to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, yesterday read a riot act to all indisciplined inhabitants and criminal elements in the Territory to change or face the wrath of the law, saying the city is not meant for everybody.

He said there is so much indiscipline, recklessness in driving and violation of traffic laws in Abuja.

Mbu, who was deployed to FCT by the Police Service Commission, last month said his administration is going to be tough on implementation the laws of the Territory.

Fielding questions from newsmen, in Abuja, assured that what he has done in other states where he had served, he will do more in Abuja, because the FCT Minister is very encouraging.

“This is the administrative capital of Nigeria, and it supposed to be exemplary; it’s supposed to be a place of decorum, high standard and discipline. These things are non-existence.

“I’m using this medium to appeal to all okada riders, to appeal to all Keke NAPEP operators; and to appeal to all indiscipline inhabitants of this FCT that they should make sure that they obey the laws of the FCT, because, in a few days’ time, were are going tough on implementing the laws of the Territory.

“If you are not supposed to hawk within the town, please go back to where you know you are supposed to hawk, as we are going to arrest you, we are going to cease your goods; and we are going to prosecute you.

“The Federal Capital is not meant for everybody, so we don’t want any criminal element in the FCT; if you have nothing doing in the nation’s Capital city, please leave it, otherwise we are going to arrest you, and use the relevant sections of the law and prosecute you”, Mbu said.
