Abuja natives hail Bala for dropping Bauchi guber bid

Date:

Some Abuja natives under the umbrella of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Original Inhabitants Youths and Women Empowerment Association, has joined others to commend the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, for purportedly dropping his Bauchi governorship bid and concentrate on the rapid development and transformation of Territory.

They hailed the Minister for harkening to the voice of Abuja natives and others to shelve his gubernatorial bid, describing the decision as an outstanding act of patriotism and sacrifice, adding that it is truly an act in national interest for the minister to shelve his ambition to lead his people back home in Bauchi in regard to overriding national interest.

In a statement issued at the weekend, in Abuja by the President of the association, Commandant Isaac David, the group also praised President Goodluck Jonathan for reposing confidence in the Bauchi-born Minister.

The association therefore pledged the support of the vast majority of FCT indigenes for the Minister and the President Goodluck Jonathan as they implement the ongoing transformation agenda, as with the implementation of various developmental programmes to their logical end would result in Abuja being transformed into a first class global mega city.

“There is no denying the fact that Abuja is now on a fast lane to comprehensive economic, social, infrastructural and physical development under the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan and Senator Bala Mohammed.

“The various multi-billion dollar projects currently going on, such as the light rail, the land swap, centenary city, Abuja Industrial Park, Abuja City Centre, Jabi Lake Resort, World Trade Centre, Aerotropolis City, the new City Gate and several others would certainly transform Abuja into the foremost capital city on the African continent and one of the top 20 mega cities in the world within the next four years.

“The acceptance of the FCT Minister to stay behind and continue with his good works in FCT is the best to have happened to the new federal capital city; because the various programmes and policies put together by the Minister would surely transform Abuja into the gateway for Nigeria’s much-awaited economic and socio-political development, which would see the country graduate from a third world country to a mega industrial nation,” the group said in the statement.
