The Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr Ahmed Idris has said that most of the federal universities have failed to comply with e-payment policy of the Federal Government.
This was contained in a release issued out from the office of the Accountant-General of the federation recently in Abuja.
The release said that if the teritary institutions complied with e-payment the vice-chancellors of the universities as well as union leaders would lose what they cut as well divert from wages and allowances of the workers in the tertiary institutions. the release said: “Every institution is required to send names of its workers and their wages profile for direct salary payment into individual salary account from Central Bank of Nigeria”.
“The e-payment will lead to many unpleasant consequences against managements of the tertiary institutions. First, ghost workers will be exposed. Unpaid allowances will also be known to ordinary workers.
Also underpayment of salary will come to an end”, the release stressed.
It pointed out that the institutions that was operating e-payment, the workers benefited, while the managements of such universities cried out for loss of lots.
